Look What They Said About Us
"Capoeira has been such an outlet for me. I first started training with my brother
and [friend] at the begining of the 05-06 school year. I had graduated the year
before and was not going to attend school. All my friends had gone away to school
and I was pretty lonely.
"I wasn't too sure about it when I first started, but then I began to really love
it. Not only did it help me get in shape, but the people there were amazing. They
were very welcoming and inviting. The instructors were not condesending at all.
Anyone could start out for the first time and feel welcome.
"The fact that it is so different from any other martial arts makes it all the more
interesting and cool:) I love telling people that I train Capoeira and telling them
the history behind it. I really do love Capoeira!"
Abby Laxson -- Brazilian Capoeira student
". . . from a parents perspective I am very pleased with [my son's] involvment in
Capoeira.
"One of the first things I notice in any of the classes or the Bachezado's ( I know
I didn't spell that right) is that everyone is so happy! There is no competition
between the participants and that everyone supports each other so much. Not a big
fan of organize sports myself, it was one of the first things I noticed and why
I am so glad [my son] is involved in this organization."
Dianne Hartshorn -- Parent of 15 year old student
"I am a 20 year veteran Martial Artist but Capoeira was not one of the styles that
I studied. I was looking for a form of Karate that my kids would enjoy and that
was different from the typical styles that are available. I brought my family by
to watch a class and we were all extremely impressed.
"Capoeira combines physical fitness, Martial Arts techniques, culture and music
which create a unique experience that can't be found in any other style that I've
seen. The classes are fun, entertaining and a fantastic workout. If you are looking
to get into shape and learn an exciting Martial Art that you will enjoy practicing,
you owe it to yourself to come by Brazilian Capoeira and watch a class."
Tony Orr -- Parent of two students
"We are very pleased with the opportunity that our family has to practice Capoeira
together. Capoeira for us is more than a martial-art or a dance class: Capoeira
for us is the possibility to spend a quality family time together doing something
very healthy for our mind and body. I think it is almost impossible, in our days,
to find an activity which teenagers and parents can do together and share the same
kind of happiness.
"During the classes, we make excellent exercises that teach us strength, coordination,
and rhythm; we play very original instruments; and we sing beautiful songs. When
you arrive at the Studio, the smile in each face and the warm atmosphere make you
feel welcome and comfortable, you forget about your problems and just enjoy the
moment. To play Capoeira for our family has been really a wonderful experience."
Cai Kiffer - Brazilian, a student, also wife, and mother of two students
"My daughter has been doing Capoeira now for close to a year. She started right
after she turned 5 years old. At that age her attention span was pretty short but
she continues to be very interested in continuing Capoeira. Her teacher. . . is
great with the young kids. She keeps them busy and constantly challenges them as
well as uses many different activites to keep their attention. The physical activity,
singing and musical instruments provides a very enjoyable program for all."
Beth Rudner -- parent of young student
"I first saw Capoeira on TV at my grandparents place during a martial arts event.
Later I started to look for a sport that my little sister and I could do together
that we would both like and enjoy. That is when I remembered Capoeira and so we
looked into it, and jumped right it. It has been a year now that I do Capoeira and
I know I will continue for many years. This has been perfect for me, it has helped
me get stronger, more flexible, taught me to get out of my confort zone and sing
even though I do not have a good singing voice, and has been a lot of fun. The club
is like a family where everyone is there for each other and where we know how to
have fun. Capoeria is one of the things in life I am not willing to give up."
